## What is this video transcript generator?

ClipScript turns a public short-video link into text. Paste a TikTok, Instagram Reel, YouTube Short, Facebook or X video URL; a server fetches the audio, Whisper large v3 turbo writes it down, and the words come back with timestamps as plain text, SRT or VTT. Three runs a day are free without an account; after that it is 3 credits a minute, about 3 cents. Nothing is published: the transcript is yours alone.

## How to get a transcript from a video link

1. **Copy the link to the post** On TikTok, Instagram, YouTube, Facebook or X, open the video and copy its link from the share menu or the address bar. The post must be public.
2. **Paste it and pick the language** Leave the language on automatic, or name it when the video opens with music. The first three runs a day need no account; a longer or a fourth video asks you to sign in.
3. **Copy or download** The text appears with a timestamped view beside it. Copy it, or download .txt, .srt or .vtt. Sign in and the transcript stays in your library.

## How this site works

- **A link, not a file** You never download the video. The server fetches only the audio track, transcribes it and discards it. For a file you already have, use the [MP4](https://clipscript.app/mp4-to-transcript) or [audio](https://clipscript.app/audio-to-text) upload page.
- **Free first, cheap after** Three short videos a day cost nothing and need no account. Credits are only for the fourth video or a longer one, and they expire after a year, not a month.
- **Failed means free** A private post, a removed video or a model error is refunded automatically. Only a transcript that came back is charged.
- **Private by default** Transcripts are shown to whoever asked for them and nobody else. There are no public transcript pages on this site.

### Is this video transcript generator free?

Three runs a day are free without an account, for videos up to 3 minutes. After that it is 3 credits a minute, rounded up, with videos up to 10 minutes; see [pricing](https://clipscript.app/pricing). A run that fails is not charged.

### Do I need to download the video first?

No. Paste the link to the public post. Our server fetches the audio behind it, sends it to the speech model and throws the audio away; nothing is stored except your transcript.

### Does it work on private or login-only posts?

No. Only posts anyone can open without signing in. A private post, a story, or a post the platform hides behind a login fails, and nothing is charged.

### How accurate is it?

On the sample clips shown on these pages, which we made ourselves with one clear voice and no music, the speech model wrote 0 to 3 words differently from the script in each clip of 70 to 300 words, not counting numbers written as digits; each page lists its differences. Real social videos with music, several voices at once or heavy accents will do worse, and we have not measured those yet. Read the text against the video before you publish it.

### Which languages does it handle?

The model is multilingual. Leave the language on automatic or pick one of the 17 in the menu; naming the language helps when the first seconds are music or silence.

### Is my transcript published anywhere?

No. A transcript is private to the browser or the account that asked for it. ClipScript is not affiliated with any of the platforms whose links it reads.

### Can it transcribe a full YouTube video?

Links up to 10 minutes, so Shorts and short videos. For an hour-long video use a tool built for YouTube; this site is for social clips.
