## Upload a video

Paste a public video link; the audio is fetched and written down as text with timestamps, exported as TXT, SRT or VTT.

## How do you turn an MP4 into a transcript?

Drop the MP4 above, or pick it from your files. Your browser reads its length, sends the file to our transcription worker, and Whisper large v3 turbo writes the audio down. The text comes back with timestamps as plain text, SRT or VTT; the file itself is deleted within two hours. Three runs a day are free without an account for videos up to 3 minutes; after that it is 3 credits a minute, up to 10 minutes and 100 MB.

- **Files:** MP4, MOV, M4V, WebM, MKV

## How to get a transcript from a video file

1. **Drop the file** MP4, MOV, M4V, WebM or MKV, up to 100 MB. Your browser reads how long it is before anything is sent; the price is shown from that length.
2. **Pick the language and start** Leave the language on automatic, or name it. The upload goes straight to the worker, with a progress bar; nothing passes through this website.
3. **Copy or download** Read the text with or without timestamps, copy it, or download .txt, .srt or .vtt for your editor.

## MP4 transcript questions

### Is this MP4 to transcript tool free?

Three runs a day are free without an account, for videos up to 3 minutes. After that you sign in and pay 3 credits a minute, rounded up; 1,500 credits are $15, which is 500 minutes. A run that fails is not charged.

### What happens to my file?

It is sent to our transcription worker, read once by the speech model and deleted within two hours; only the transcript is kept, for you. Nothing is published.

### Why is there a 100 MB limit?

A 10-minute phone video is usually under 100 MB. For a larger file, export it as audio (MP3 or M4A) first and use the [audio page](https://clipscript.app/audio-to-text); the words are the same.

### How accurate is it?

The sample on this page was a clean recording with one voice, and the transcript under it matches the script on all but the numbers, which came back as digits. A real upload with music, overlapping voices or a heavy accent will not be that clean, and no figure for those has been measured here yet. Check the text against the video before you publish it.

### Can I get subtitles for my own video?

Yes: download the .srt or .vtt and import it into CapCut, Premiere, DaVinci Resolve, Descript or any player. One cue per segment as the model returned it.

### Is ClipScript affiliated with any platform?

No. ClipScript is an independent tool. Upload only files you have the right to transcribe.
