## Paste a YouTube link

Paste a public video link; the audio is fetched and written down as text with timestamps, exported as TXT, SRT or VTT.

## How do you summarize a YouTube video?

Paste the link above. The transcript is read from the video's own captions, free. Under it, Summary is selected: press Write and a language model returns a paragraph of three or four sentences on what the video is about and where it lands, then five to eight key points, each one sentence, in the video's language. It costs 2 credits for a video up to about 20 minutes of speech; a failed run is refunded.

- **Transcript:** Free from captions
- **Summary:** 2 credits
- **Shape:** A paragraph + 5–8 points
- **Long videos:** +1 credit per 20k characters

## Getting a summary you can trust

1. **Paste the link and wait for the transcript** Read the first lines. If the captions are YouTube's automatic ones and the speaker has a strong accent or the audio is noisy, names may be wrong there already, and the summary will repeat them.
2. **Write the summary** With Summary selected, press Write. The model is told to use only what the transcript says: no outside facts, names or numbers.
3. **Check the numbers against the video** Figures, dates and names are the lines worth a ten-second check: find the line by its timestamp in the transcript and play that moment of the video.

## Summarizer questions

### Is the summary free?

The transcript is free for videos with captions; the summary costs 2 credits for most videos, a little more for long ones. 1,500 credits are $15.

### How long a video can it summarize?

With captions, any length: the model reads up to about 120,000 characters of transcript, roughly two hours of speech. The price grows by one credit per 20,000 characters past the first 20,000.

### Does it watch the video?

No. It reads the transcript. What is only on screen, a chart or a demo, is not in the summary.

### Can I get chapters instead?

Yes: YouTube chapters is one of the buttons under the transcript, with timestamps, for 2 credits.
