YouTube transcript generator
Paste the link. If the video carries captions, YouTube's own or automatic, you get them at once, free, with timestamps, as TXT, SRT or VTT. A video with none is written down by a speech model: three a day free, then 3 credits a minute.
A real run, word for word
We made this clip ourselves (voice by Kokoro, pictures by FLUX) so it can be published here and every word checked. It was not taken from any platform.
0:00Noise-canceling headphones do not block sound the way earplugs do.
0:03They add more sound on purpose.
0:06Small microphones on each ear cup listen to the noise around you, like the low hum of a plane engine.
0:13A chip then makes a copy of that wave, flipped upside down, and plays it through the speaker.
0:18When the two waves meet, they cancel each other out.
0:21This works best on steady, low sounds.
0:24Voices and sudden noises change too fast, which is why you can still hear someone talking to you.
Checked against the script that was spoken: 1 of 90 words differ.
Where it differs
- said “cancelling” → written “canceling”

0:00If you're new to freelancing, you are probably charging too little.
0:03Here are three pricing mistakes I made in my first year and what I do now instead.
0:08Mistake 1. Pricing by the hour for work you're fast at.
0:12The better you get, the less you earn.
0:13A logo that took me 20 hours in my first year takes me 6 now.
0:17If I still charged by the hour, getting good would have cut my pay for that job by more than half.
0:22So I switched to pricing by project.
0:25I estimate the hours, add a buffer for revisions, and then ask what the result is worth to the client.
0:30A landing page that brings a small shop at sales is worth more than six hours of my time.
0:36Mistake 2. No written scope.
0:38I once agreed to a few small changes on a website.
0:41Three weeks later, I was rebuilding the checkout for free at midnight.
0:45Now every project starts with one page that lists what is included, how many rounds of changes, and what counts as extra.
0:52Clients don't mind.
0:53Most of them like knowing exactly what they are paying for.
0:57Mistake 3 Being afraid to raise prices for existing clients.
1:01I kept my first client at the same rate for two years while everyone new paid more.
1:06Here is what finally worked.
1:08I sent a short friendly note 60 days ahead, gave the new rate and the date it starts,
1:12and thanked them for the work so far.
1:14They said yes in one line.
1:17If you remember one thing, make it this.
1:19Your price is a decision, not a guess.
1:21Write it down, explain it once and stop apologizing for it.
1:25That's it, pick one of these three and change it on your next project.
1. Charging too little as a new freelancer
0:00 – 0:17 · 17 s
"If you're new to freelancing, you are probably charging too little."
A strong opening line that sets the stage for the topic.
2. A landing page that brings a small shop sales is worth more
0:25 – 0:40 · 16 s
"I estimate the hours, add a buffer for revisions, and then ask what the result is worth to the client."
A clear tip that emphasizes value over time spent.
3. I kept my first client at the same rate for two years
1:01 – 1:19 · 18 s
"I kept my first client at the same rate for two years while everyone new paid more."
A relatable story about the fear of raising prices.
4. Your price is a decision, not a guess
1:19 – 1:29 · 10 s
"Your price is a decision, not a guess."
A powerful takeaway that encapsulates the main message.
Written by openai/gpt-4o-mini with the same instructions the tool uses, 2026-10-31. On the site this costs 2 credits. Not edited by hand.
Times are snapped to whole sentences and the opening line is quoted from the transcript. Cut clips only from videos you own or have permission to use, such as a creator's clipping programme.
How do you get the transcript of a YouTube video?
Paste the video's link above. The server reads the captions the video already carries, YouTube's own or its automatic ones, and shows them as text with timestamps; that is free and does not count against anything. A video with no captions at all is sent to Whisper large v3 turbo instead: three such runs a day are free for videos up to 3 minutes, then 3 credits a minute, up to 10 minutes. Private and members-only videos cannot be read.
- With captions
- Free, unlimited, instant
- Without captions

How to get a YouTube transcript
Copy the link
From the address bar or the Share button: youtube.com/watch?v=…, youtu.be/… and Shorts links all work. The video must be public or unlisted.
Paste it and choose the language
Leave the language on automatic to take the video's own captions; pick a language to prefer that caption track when the video has several.
Copy or download
Read the text with or without timestamps, copy it, or download .txt, .srt or .vtt. The timestamps are YouTube's own cue times.
What is free and what costs credits
- Video with captions
- Free, no limitThe text is YouTube's caption track, human-made or automatic, with its cue times. No model runs.Source: Pricing
- Video without captions
- 3 free a day, then 3 credits a minuteTranscribed by Whisper large v3 turbo. Free runs up to 3 minutes; paid runs up to 10.Source: Pricing
- Automatic captions
- Taken as YouTube made themYouTube's automatic captions carry YouTube's errors; we do not correct them. For a cleaner text of a video that has only automatic captions, nothing here re-transcribes it yet.
- Longest video
- 10 minutes without captionsWith captions there is no length limit; a two-hour video's captions come back whole.

YouTube transcript questions
Is this YouTube transcript generator free?
Yes for any video that carries captions, which is most of them: the text comes from the caption track, there is no limit and no account. Only a video with no captions at all is sent to the speech model, and that costs 3 credits a minute after three free runs a day.
Does it work on videos without captions?
Yes: the audio is transcribed by Whisper large v3 turbo, up to 10 minutes. For a longer video with no captions, use a tool built for long transcription.
Are automatic captions accurate?
They are YouTube's automatic captions, taken as they are; YouTube's own help pages say their quality varies with audio and accents. We have not measured them. Read the text against the video before you publish it.
Can I get the transcript in another language?
If the video carries a caption track in that language, pick it in the language menu. Translation is not offered yet; paste the text into a translator.
Can it find the moments worth clipping?
Yes: under the transcript, Clip moments (2 credits) lists stretches of 15 to 60 seconds that work on their own, best first, each with start and end times snapped to whole sentences and its opening line quoted from the transcript. It does not download or cut the video. Cut the clip in your own editor, and only from a video you own or have permission to use, such as a creator's own clipping programme.
Can I use someone else's transcript?
The words stay the creator's. Transcripts here are for reading, study, notes and quoting with attribution; copying a whole video's script into your own is not what this is for.
Is ClipScript affiliated with YouTube?
No. ClipScript is an independent tool and reads only public videos.
