A real run, word for word

How to repot a houseplant, a home how-to video34 s · video 16:9 · spoken in English

We made this clip ourselves (voice by Kokoro, pictures by FLUX) so it can be published here and every word checked. It was not taken from any platform.

0:00If water runs straight through the pot and roots poke out of the bottom, your plant is ready for a bigger home.

0:05Spring is the easiest time to move it.

0:08Pick a new pot only 2 or 3 centimeters wider than the old one.

0:12A pot that is far too big holds wet soil around the roots for days.

0:16Water the plant the day before, tip it on its side and ease it out.

0:20Loosen the outer roots gently with your fingers and trim any that are brown and soft.

0:25Set it at the same depth as before, fill around it with fresh mix and water until it drains, then keep it out of strong sun for a week while it settles.

Checked against the script that was spoken: 2 of 122 words differ.

One number was written as digits (“two” → “2”); that is formatting, not counted.

How do you convert a video to text?

Upload the file above. Only the length is read in your browser; the file goes to our transcription worker, where Whisper large v3 turbo listens to the soundtrack and writes it down line by line, each line with the second it starts. You can read it with or without times, copy it, or save it as .txt, .srt or .vtt. A video up to 3 minutes is free three times a day without signing up; longer ones, up to 10 minutes and 100 MB, are 3 credits a minute.

What people turn into text here

  • Lectures and lessons

Searchable notes from a recorded class: find the minute a topic came up by its timestamp instead of scrubbing through the video.

  • Interviews

Quotes you can copy word for word. There are no speaker labels, so mark who says what as you read; the timestamps show where each answer starts.

  • Your own videos

A script of what you said, for a description or subtitles. Signed in, one click under the transcript writes a blog post, a summary or YouTube tags from it.

  • Screen recordings

A walkthrough or a demo, turned into written steps someone can follow without playing it.

Video to text in three steps

  1. Choose the file

Drag it onto the box or pick it. A phone video of ten minutes is usually under the 100 MB limit; a larger file can be exported as audio and sent through the MP3 to text page instead.

  2. Name the language if you know it

Automatic works for most videos. Naming the language helps when the first seconds are music, or the speaker switches language.

  3. Take the text away

Copy it as it is, keep the timestamps, or download subtitles. Signed in, the transcript also stays in your library.

Video to text questions

Is there a free video to text converter here?

Yes: three videos a day, each up to 3 minutes, need no account and cost nothing. A longer video, or a fourth one, is 3 credits a minute after you sign in; 1,500 credits are $15. A run that fails is not charged.

Does it read text that appears on screen?

No. It writes down what is said, not what is shown. Titles, slides and captions burned into the picture are not read.

What about a video with music under the voice?

The model writes the voice and usually ignores the music, but loud music or lyrics can slip into the text. Read those lines against the video; we have not measured how often it happens.

How long can the video be?

Up to 10 minutes and 100 MB with credits, 3 minutes on a free run. For something longer, cut it into parts with any editor and upload them one by one.

Is my video kept?

No. The file is read once and deleted within two hours. Only the transcript stays, and only you can see it.

What is the difference from the MP4 page?

None in the tool: both take the same files. The MP4 to transcript page is about that one format; this one is for any video file you have.
